Solitary Vajrasattva

THE POWER OF RELIANCE

Taking Refuge and Generating Bodhicitta

I go for refuge to the three rare and sublime jewels.
I shall liberate all sentient beings and lead them to the state of enlightenment.
I shall perfectly develop the mind of enlightenment. (3x)

Visualizing Vajrasattva

On my crown, from a syllable PAM, appears a moon disc. Above this moon mandala arises a syllable HUM which transforms into a five spoked vajra marked with a syllable HUM at its hub.

From this HUM light rays radiate out and perform the two functions (benefiting all beings and making offerings to the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas). These light rays gather back into the syllable HUM which then transforms into Vajrasattva, whose body is white in color, with one face and two hands. In his right hand he holds a vajra at his heart. In his left hand, a bell at his hip. He is adorned with various precious ornaments and clothed in beautiful silks. His body bears all minor and major marks of an enlightened being. He is seated in the vajrasana position.

At his crown is an OM, at his throat an AH, and at his heart a HUM. From the white HUM syllable above the moon disc at his heart light rays radiate out and invoke the wisdom beings.

DZA HUM BAM HO, they became inseparably one.

Again, light rays radiate out from the syllable HUM at the heart of Vajrasattva at my crown and invoke the empowering deities. By supplicating the deities to confer the empowerment upon Vajrasattva, they do so by holding vases filled with wisdom nectars and expressing:

OM SARVA TAHAGATA
ABHISHEKATA SAMAYA SHRIYE HUM,

filling his body with the wisdom nectars. The excess nectars, overflowing, transform into Akshobhya, who adorns the crown of Vajrasattva.

THE POWER OF REGRET

Requesting Purification

O Bhagawan Vajrasattva, please cleanse and purify all negativities, obscurations, degenerated and broken commitments of myself and all others.

By supplicating in this manner light rays radiate out from the syllable HUM at the heart of Vajrasattva, cleansing the negativities and obscurations of all sentient beings and presenting offerings that delight all the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas. All the blessings, potential, and powers of the Buddhas and bodhisattvas are invoked in the form of light rays which dissolve back into the HUM and the mantra rosary which surrounds it, enhancing Vajrasattva with the marvelous qualities of magnificence, brilliance and power.

THE POWER OF RESOLVE

Prayer of Resolve

Out of unknowing and confusion,
I have transgressed and broken my commitments.
O Guru Protector, please guide me.
Principal Holder of the Vajra,
To you whose nature is great compassion,
Lord of all beings, I go for refuge.

With a loving smile and radiating wisdom light,
Vajrasattva praises my efforts and accomplishments,
Then says, “Spiritual child of the lineage, all your negativities, obscurations, and degenerated vows
Have now been completely purified”.

Absorption

With delight, Vajrasattva melts into light and dissolves into me,
As a result, my body, speech and mind become inseparably one
With the body, speech and mind of Vajrasattva.

Dedication

By this virtue may I quickly
Become Vajrasattva
And lead every living being
Without exception to that state.

May the precious Bodhichitta
Not yet born, be born.
May that which has been born
Not decline, but ever increase.
